Update on the Business SOS Campaign
The Plymouth City Centre Company, along with 150 other Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and other business support organisations, urged the government ahead of the mini-budget to do three simple things as part of a national #BusinessSOS campaign.
We asked for a commercial energy price cap, a cut in VAT and business rates relief to give High Street businesses some certainty.
Apart from the energy price cap, the mini-budget did nothing for our businesses and created even more economic uncertainty. Today, following the Chancellor’s statement, we call on the government again to listen to what our businesses are saying.
Small and medium-sized businesses can drive growth, help the economy recover and keep people in work.
The City Centre Company will keep fighting on behalf of all our city centre businesses.
