Connect Plymouth invites you to their launch

Connect Plymouth, the city’s new sustainable transport initiative supported through the Transforming Cities Fund, is launching on 21st March 2023. You are very welcome to attend the event in the Piazza between Royal Parade and the Sundial on Armada Way at any time from noon to 5pm on the 21st March where you’ll get the chance to try out the e-bikes for free, sit in one of the electric car club vehicles and find out more about the plans for a network of electric vehicle charge points across the city.

When fully operational, there will be an additional 300 parking bays across the city with electric vehicle charge points provided by Wenea. Beryl Bikes are on board with a 500-strong fleet of electric bikes for hire from over 90 sites being located across the city. And the City Council has awarded a contract to Co Cars to run a fleet of electric car club vehicles within Plymouth. These components are being integrated with buses, trains, ferries, walking and cycling routes.

Construction work for the electric vehicle charging bays is currently underway at City Business Park, Manadon Sports Hub and St. Andrew Street car park on Whimple Street. A total of 50 sites will be operational by the end of 2024. And e-bike docks will be installed at 24 locations by mid-March, with a roll out of a further sites over the spring and summer 2023. And with the Car Club helping to take private cars off the road, it will be gradually rolled out from one vehicle in March 2023, to ten by the end of the year and ultimately 50 vehicles.
