Armada Way clean-up about to start

Work is finally about to start on the clear-up of felled trees in Armada Way which will be good news and a huge relief for all our city centre businesses.

With the bird nesting season now ended, contractors are due to start work at 5am tomorrow (Thursday, September 20) on the huge clear up operation which will include a widespread clean-up, litter removal, weeding and removal of the temporary fencing.

Steve Hughes, chief executive of the City Centre Company, said: “Our traders will be very relieved to learn that the clear up can finally take place and that we can start looking ahead once more.

 “We are all looking forward to the new plans and feeding into the consultation. This is a multi-million investment that has the potential to transform the city centre, which is good for our businesses and great for shoppers and visitors.”

The City Centre Company has been calling for the regeneration of Armada Way for years and with the council and other partners is determined to bring new life to what could be one of the finest tree-lined boulevards in the UK.

Mr Hughes, added: “I cannot emphasise strongly enough how important it is for all city centre businesses to feed into the consultation when the new plans are revealed.

We know you understand how important these plans are for the very future of the city centre and your business. You need to make sure your voice is heard. There is a lot at stake.”
