Exciting city centre events programme revealed for Plymouth’s new amphitheatre
A new programme of live events will launch at Plymouth’s new city centre Amphitheatre this spring, bringing festival-style music, emerging artists and theatre to the heart of the city.
From April to September 2026, Live at the Amphitheatre will host a monthly Saturday music event on the second Saturday of each month, running from late afternoon into early evening.
The programme builds on the success of Saturday Sessions in Old Town Square, which will return this year on the first Saturday of each month from April to September, starting on 4 April.
The new Amphitheatre programme will feature a mix of established touring acts, genre-led music programming and emerging local talent. Confirmed artists include Chainska Brassika, Echo Town, Kizamba and Badcore Horns, delivering a high-energy festival-style brass and party sound, alongside swing and Latin live music curated by Pogo Events.
The programme will also showcase new and emerging Plymouth-based musicians, selected through the Plymouth City Centre New Music 2026 initiative.
The events are delivered by Plymouth City Centre Company, working in partnership with Plymouth Culture, Pogo Events and Andy Quick Music, and are designed to animate the new public space, attract audiences into the city centre and support Plymouth’s growing music scene. They are sponsored by Moxy Plymouth.
A spokesperson for the Millbay-based hotel said: “Moxy Plymouth is proud to support the Plymouth City Centre Amphitheatre programme, backing a series of summer live music events that celebrate the city’s creative energy and emerging talent. Built on the idea of being part of the communities it serves, Moxy’s partnership reflects a long-term commitment to Plymouth’s cultural future and its ambition to become UK City of Culture 2029.
“The events are designed to be open, welcoming and accessible; introducing both locals and visitors to Plymouth’s vibrant creative scene while helping animate the city centre through shared cultural experiences.”
Peter Adams, Captain of Moxy Plymouth, said: “Moxy hotels are created to be in and of the community, and supporting creative events like these is at the heart of what we do. Plymouth has an incredible creative scene, and we’re proud to stand alongside Plymouth City Council and our partners to help showcase that talent, support the city’s cultural momentum, and back Plymouth’s journey toward UK City of Culture 2029.”
Full event listings and updates are available via the Visit Plymouth website, and people are encouraged to follow @whatsonplymouth and @plymouthcitycentrecompany for announcements.
Steve Hughes, Chief Executive of Plymouth City Centre Company, said: “The Amphitheatre has been created as a new gathering space for the city, and this programme is about bringing it to life with music, culture and shared experiences.
“These events will attract audiences into the city centre, support local talent and help create a vibrant atmosphere throughout the summer months.”
Alongside the headline events programme, eight young music acts from Plymouth will be selected to perform as supporting acts at the Amphitheatre this summer as part of Plymouth City Centre New Music 2026, a new development programme supporting the next generation of emerging artists.
Selected artists aged 16–25 will receive a career support package valued at £700, including a paid 30-minute performance at the Amphitheatre, professional recording and mixing of a single at DBS Studios, a workshop on releasing music to streaming platforms, mentoring from producer, songwriter and Plymouth’s Music Ambassador Grace Lightman, and inclusion on the Plymouth City Centre New Music playlist.
Applications are open to solo performers and bands based in Plymouth, with all music genres welcome. Artists can apply in written, audio or video formats, with flexible options to support access needs. Applications close Monday 16 February 2026 at 10am (GMT), with full details available at plymouthculture.co.uk/new-music
